Ian's GF Cookie Buttons - from Melissa Riches
ROCK group- I posted this on the Silly Yaks and Celiac kids yahoo groups. Just in case someone is not part of those groups I thought it was worth passing on..... Several months ago, Ian's introduced GF Cookie Buttons. This is a large yellow box that includes several pouches of small cookies. They have a couple different GF flavors. Yesterday my husband went to Whole Foods and picked up a box of Ian's Cookie Buttons Double Chocolate Chip. He "assumed" they were GF as the box looks EXACTLY like the GF boxes. He brought them home and my daughter had 5 of these small cookies. Three hours later she was complaining about not feeling well...tummy ache, etc. He checked the box and "organic wheat flour" was the 1st ingredient. Our 5 year old celiac spent the next 3 hours over the toilet vomiting until she passed out from exhaustion. I also put these in my cart a few weeks ago and while I was waiting to check out decided to look at the box. To my shock I gave them back to the clerk. My husband felt horrible and we had to explain to our daughter that "Daddy made a mistake." I wanted to tell everyone so we remember to double check ourselves EVERYTIME. In this mad rush of the holidays it is easy to act too quickly and make a mistake. Please, learn from our mistake, slow down and take the time to re-read boxes even if they look like the products you always buy. Happy Holidays, Melissa Riches
